ASTORIA, QUEENS — An Astoria cafe that recently reopened after months of renovations is now up for sale on Craigslist.
Savage Sicko, a well-reviewed Latin American vegan restaurant located on 31st Avenue between 37th and 38th Streets, is selling for $179,000 online.
“Astoria business for sale” reads the listing, which describes the building as a “turnkey” property, or immediately ready for rental.
What the listing doesn’t specify, however, is whether or not Savage Sicko plans to stay in the storefront, located at 37-10 31st Avenue, after the sale.
Reached for comment, restaurant chef Alex Ayala did not respond to questions about the future of the business, short of saying the restaurant is currently open.
Savage Sicko, which opened in early 2020, began kitchen renovations in November; kicking off several confusing months of activity for the restaurant.
The month after renovations began, the business said it was looking for investors to reopen in a new location in Astoria.
“This location would be wonderful for a cafe. We are also still looking for investors or partners to open a new location,” the outlet wrote a few days later. “Please share and send to [as] lots of people so we can reopen as soon as possible.”
A few months later, Savage Sicko reversed course again and began posting information about its soft opening.
The vegan restaurant officially reopens the first week of March. The following week, the restaurant was put up for sale.
Outside of the sale, Savage Sicko has made no indication of an online shutdown, continuing to post its regular food and shark content (a portion of the restaurant’s proceeds are donated to researching and conserving sharks). sharks, which the owners would be keen on).
