Man smashes window and breaks into West Houston cafe

HOUSTON – A Houston restaurant owner is upset after someone broke into his business earlier this week.

The London Cafe on Highway 6 was closed early Monday morning when someone smashed one of the windows.

“I hope it’s the last time but it’s very hard, very hard to see it,” said owner Alex Lleshi.

Surveillance video shows a man going inside and walking towards the reception desk. In another clip, he wears a balaclava and mask while looking around before moving backwards.

Houston police said five iPads were stolen. Lleshi said tablets are needed for online takeout orders.

“This damage, for example, I have to work at least a month to cover this situation,” Lleshi said.

As if the pandemic weren’t tough enough, Lleshi said he was particularly frustrated as this was the third break-in in about a year. He does not know if the same person is responsible for all three incidents.

“My message is please stop doing this,” Lleshi said. “I hope this is the last time for him and I hope he understands that enough is enough.”

The owner said the damage costs from the last incident were approximately $ 5,000.

“I don’t know if anyone is looking for someone to go to jail,” said Bill Barras, a friend of the owner. “I think what they are looking for is for it to stop and replace what was taken.”

Houston Police said they have the surveillance footage and are investigating the case.
